Impact of the alternative therapeutic program in rehabilitation centers for drug addicts in Cuenca, Ecuador
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present study was carried out in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador in two Specialized Centers in Treatment for People with Problematic Consumption of Alcohol and other Drugs (CETAD), establishing as an intervention group a population of 50 male adolescents between 13 and 17 years old, during a six-month rehabilitation treatment process for the use of psychoactive substances in the residential internment model. The second sample was made up of 30 male adults between the ages of 25 and 60 in similar conditions. The research methodology was quali-quantitative, allowing the identification of consequences and effects in the application of the alternative therapeutic program, in addition, mathematical processes were used to analyze the data obtained in The Scale for Mood Assessment. As a complementary evaluative tool, the Subjective Questionnaire of Habits and Physical-Sports Behaviors by Maurice Pierón was included during the initial and post-treatment periods in both cases, this being the main psychological reagent used and focusing the analysis on 8 items of the questionnaire that reflect four states of general mood: depression, anxiety, hostility and joy, that is, a pretest and post-test, this with the specific objective of generating a comparative evaluation between the phase of admission of patients to treatment, versus the entire stage of hospitalization in the which were applied recreational programs, physical activities and sports, as priority complementary strategies to the traditional Ecuadorian model of rehabilitation for drug users; Obtaining as a result the degree of impact of the incorporation of these activities as optional therapeutic resources in drug addicted populations.
